Director's Notes
Rarity: No worries! To help with the con, I've prepared in advance a few talking points for each of you.
Rainbow Dash: To the Wonderbolts: "She's not afraid to get her hooves dirty." I guess they might buy that.
Applejack: To the farmers: "She's really down-to-earth and understands us working folk." Uh-HUH.
Pinkie Pie: To the nobility: "She hosted the most beautiful soirée last month." What's a soirée?
Fluttershy: To the royal animals: "She loves all kinds of creatures, especially fluffy cats." Oh, I'm not sure the birds and mice will like that...
Twilight Sparkle: To Celestia: "Rarity would make a great niece-in-law." WAIT, WHAT?!

You're Too Kind

You're Too Kind
Applejack: While Rarity's, er... sketching things out... what exactly are we plannin' to do at the Gala?
Pinkie Pie: Have fun!
Twilight Sparkle: I think our job is to talk up Dainty Dove with the Canterlot nobility so that she comes in with a good reputation.
Rainbow Dash: <yaaaawwwn> That's it?
DM: You are trying to make an entirely fake person exist.
Fluttershy: I'm not so sure I could lie to so many people like that...
Pinkie Pie: It's not all that hard. Just use all the compliments you'd give "Rarity" but say "Dainty Dove!"
Fluttershy: Oh. So, something like... "Dainty Dove is really good at acting"?
Pinkie Pie: Ermmmm...
Rarity: That may give our marks the wrong idea...

Twilight Sparkle: I don't really know anything about fashion...
Rarity: That's just fine. I'm looking for ideas and motifs and preferences that I can work into the designs. You can leave the rest to me.
Twilight Sparkle: Well... Then I guess something with stars? That's kind of Twilight's motif anyway.
Rarity: That works. And for Applejack, I'm assuming something functional, comfortable, and apple-themed?
Applejack: You know me so well.
Fluttershy: Just something animal-themed for me. I'm not sure what haute couture might look like on a pony...
Rarity: Oh, you follow fashion trends?
Fluttershy: I used to. Lost interest a couple of years ago...
Rainbow Dash: I just want something I can fight in. In fact, I don't wanna roll up to the castle in anything less than full power armor!
Rarity: <sigh>
Pinkie Pie: You know what I say: Anything that makes me look like a cupcake is a plus!
Rarity: ...Indeed, that is something you always say. Always.
DM: Sounds like Rarity's got her work cut out for her.
Rarity: No no, I can work with this. ...Except the power armor thing; I don't think that's possible in Equestria.
DM: No.

Cross Balk

Cross Balk
Fluttershy: So... will Rarity make dresses for us?
Rarity: Of course, of course. I won't even charge.
Applejack: I've been wonderin' for a while: How good of a dressmaker can Rarity be, anyway? Isn't being a Rogue her main job and makin' dresses is just her cover?
Twilight Sparkle: I imagine it's a matter of Dexterity... which Rarity has in spades.
DM: 4th Edition in general isn't really concerned with crafting rules.
Applejack: Even if it was, that's sneakin', cartwheelin', knife-in-your-back Dexterity. Not sure that's needle-'n'-thread Dexterity.
DM: I dunno, when you put it like that...
Twilight Sparkle: Actually, there IS an Enchant Magic Item ritual we could use on these dresses. How much GP would a Level 9 common armor cost?
Pinkie Pie: <gasp!> So we can have MAGICAL DRESSES?!
Rarity: AHEM. What do you want your dresses to look like?

Dress For Excess

Dress For Excess
Rainbow Dash: NO. Please no.
Rarity: Come now, dear. This is potentially my character's farewell, is it not? Would it be wrong, then, for me to demand that certain details be absolutely perfect?
Rainbow Dash: Slightly!
Applejack: Ah heck, just let her have this. It pro'ly won't take that long.
Twilight Sparkle: Almost all of the social challenges have been stacked against us so far. If the dresses make a difference, we might as well take every advantage we can get. If tricking a Prince was easy, everyone would do it, right?
Rainbow Dash: Fine. But when we inevitably end of a cliffhanger for Part 2 – Don't. Say. I. Didn't. Tell You So! Now where are the drinks?
Pinkie Pie: Bag next to the fridge!
Rainbow Dash: Thanks!

Measure Twice

Measure Twice
DM: PREVIOUSLY, IN EQUESTRIA... You all decided that if Rarity couldn't be a Thief of the Guild, then she ought to be a Princess. Your target: The Grand Galloping Gala. Where royalty and the most prominent ponies in Equestria spend an evening together in beautiful Canterlot. It wasn't easy getting an invitation. You were stonewalled by red tape. You were forced to become renowned in many different ways in order to get a ticket. And on some of your quests, the Thieves Guild mysteriously intervened. But that all ends now. Tonight's the night! The con is on.
Rarity: But first, dresses!
DM: ...Pardon?
